Exciting! Is this your first trip to AMD land? Asking for a friend.

I know these are computer parts and I could certainly construct a c omputer out of them but I’m so out of the loop on hardware I couldn’t tell you how good any of that is.
I’m nearly 40 and have a degree in computer science and m y current machine might be the only machine I have ever paid money for and even then it was under $200 for a reconditioned Lenovo box.
My buddy was working on building a gaming rig while I was looking for a c omputer he’d been dream shopping it for months and knew the specs of every part. I said that I wanted it to have win 7, a decent sized ssd and cost as little as possible. Then I politely listened to his run down.

will do, it’ll probably be a 3900x/3800x and 2070 with the fastest RAM the mobo will support
it be a complete sleeper when I will build it, none of that RGB crap. Only giveaway will be my bright neon blue keyboard and mouse backlights.

First trip. Coming from an i5-2500k.

Looks like a solid build to me! Just make sure to put at least one intake fan into the front of the machine, preferably two, to get airflow going across the CPU cooler as well as to feed the video card fans. It will make the machine last a lot longer. Get 140mms if possible, they flow more and are quieter than 120s.

It came with fans, but I’ll definitely upgrade them.

Your case likely comes with the same 140mm fans that my Define R6 did. They are quiet and seem to flow enough air.

Lmk your thoughts, I plan to hop onto the AMD wagon later thid year

Will do!

You will love it. I went from an i7 2700k to a Ryzen 2700x. Definitely more powerful. Never knew I see the day AMD beats Intel :)

Might want to start gathering parts now. We’re nearing another DRAM shortage so RAM and GPU prices are going to go up again.

Welp, just saw the report on Samsung’s issues...2070 is quite expensive to buy right now tho...
![]() 01/07/2020 at 18:05 |

That’s because the 2070 is discontinued and has been replaced with the 2070 Super. The Supers are selling for MSRP, I got mine for $520.

That's one sexy box.

are you interested?
![]() 01/07/2020 at 19:03 |

Right, I looked em up after I commented. $500- 600 is pretty good for a 2070....hmmm decisions decisions

Do the Super, the slightly detuned 2080 die is a big upgrade over the standard 2070.

I’ve built 3 AMD PCs this year and I’m blown away. You should definitely hop on the bandwagon

I’d be if I didn't already have three other machines in the house. SWMBO will see to it.
